Chapter 3- Meeting Disclaimer:Some names of the worlds do not belong to me (e.g Aenir) neither do the spritshadows, nor sharrakor, but i do own the plot and most of the characters I woke up. I winced as sudden light flooded through my eyes. After a while, they returned back to normal. I looked around. I was in a cave at the base of the mountain. Obviously, someone had brought me here. My eyes trailed to an orange glow. So, that someone had the decency to light a fire. I sat up, groaning as sudden pain flared through my body. “You’re awake. I advise that you lie down.” a male voice said. I swerved to the direction of the voice, regretting at once, as pain flared up through my body once more. The speaker was a boy. He had midnight blue eyes and long black hair which was tied up into a long ponytail. He was dressed in a dark blue T-shirt, a striped blue jacket, black pants and blue boots. Then, I realized something; he was wearing a silver badge in the shape of crossed swords. I gasped. He was an outcast. I screamed bloody murder. I boy winced and covered his ears, “Lower the imbeciles! I’m sensitive to noise!” I continued screaming. The boy dashed over and covered my mouth. “Stop it! I’m not going to hurt you! Umm.... I’m just a spy sent into the outcast camp by the queen, to keep them under control.” He explained. I stopped screaming and he uncovered his hand. I stared at him critically. “You saved me?” I asked curiously. He just nodded and handed me a piece of some kind of meat. After inspecting it, making sure it was free of poison, I chewed on it in silence. After a few minutes of silence, I asked, “What’s your name?” “Names Kou.” he replied. “Nice name. Mine’s Jadeite.” I smiled. He merely nodded. “Umm… thanks for saving me.” I stammered. “No problem.” he replied shortly. We lapsed into silence again. “So who are your parents?” I asked. “I don’t have parents.” he shrugged. “What?” “I’m an orphan.” “Oh.” we sat in uncomfortable silence. “I’m sorry…about that…” I fidgeted. “No need to be. Just go to sleep.” he answered. I closed my mouth and started to lie down, wincing at every moment. He did the same. I slowly drifted off to sleep. It was already morning when I woke up. Kou was already packing up his things. He looked at me and said, “Well, hurry up, I don’t have all day.” “What do you mean?” I looked at him curiously. “I’m travelling with you.” he replied. My mouth dropped open. He continued, “You’re not fully recovered yet, besides, we’ll be moving in the same direction anyway.” I got up numbly, unable to protest. Oh well. Like he said, we were travelling in the same direction anyway. But, I still didn’t trust him. He might be lying about the whole spy thingy. Still, it would be useful to get a free bodyguard, a cute one too. Wait a minute, scrape the last line, what was I thinking. We set off. After travelling for a few hours, we were already quite a few miles into the mountain. I had long given up trying to start a conversation with him. All he did was nod or give one-word answers. So we travelled in silence. Out of the blue, he asked me a question, “What did you come to the Mountains of Light for?” “Me? Well, it was the nearest landmark, also, the Mountains of Light are rumoured that many strong creatures live here. I…umm…kind of wanted a spritshadow like Sharrakor.” I replied nervously. “What a pipe dream.” he remarked. “Yeah I know.” I blushed. “Actually, I also dream of a spritshadow like Sharrakor.” he blushed a brilliant scarlet. “Really?” “Yeah…” “I decided to come, though many have gone here…” he trailed off “But never returned.” I completed his sentence. There was a legend about the Mountains of Light. That there was an ancient treasure guarded by to strong creatures. Drawn by the legend, many had entered the mountain, but most of them never came back. Those that had managed to escape never survived long after they came out. I shivered. We were getting closer to the centre of the mountain. It was quite unnerving as no monsters had attacked us at all. Then I caught sight of something shiny at Kou’s side. “What’s that?” I asked him. “My sword. Why?” he answered bewildered. “Can I see it?” I requested. “Sure.” he unsheathed the sword and handed it to me. I observed the pattern carefully. The end of the hilt was a sort of fan-like shape, covered with blue sapphires and obsidian. The bottom part was spread into to wings. The blade was a shining sliver. A line of gold streaked the centre of the hilt and the tip of the sword. I gasped. The pattern was exactly like mine, only my sword was smaller in size as it was made for a woman and was covered with diamonds and pink sapphires. “What is it?” Kou asked. I told him my discovery. “Really? Where did you get it from?” Kou asked interested. “It’s a family heirloom.” I replied. “Mine was with me since I was found on the streets.” he said in a soft tone. I immediately shut myself up and bowed my head in respect. We walked in silence for the rest of the journey. We travelled for a few more hours. We reached the centre. I shivered. It was freezing in here. I pulled my coat and torchlight. It was also very dark. “Hey! Look!” Kou’s voice called. I swerved around, wincing at the sudden movement. “What?” I asked. He motioned me to come closer. There was text carved out on a nearby wall. “I think it is written in English. Let’s read it together.” I suggested. Kou nodded his head in agreement. The text was: Two were the swords golden-sliver, made of might Forged by true darkness and light. Two bearers of the swords one single goal to return to their world, considered whole. Shadows of the dark fleeting through the night all shall be lost if not for the light From the depths of the mountain the two bearers shall be chosen to protect the worlds from the explosion One with the dark, one with the light both must merge together or all shall be endless night We both looked quizzically at each other before the whole mountain shook. Throwing us off balanced. Suddenly, two creatures aroused from the wall. Tall, majestic and beautiful. Both had brilliant wings and gleaming feathers. They were phoenixes. One was a snowy white while the other was a snooty black. I gazed in awe at them. They were about double my size. “Who awakens the phoenixes of light and dark!” the black one boomed. It was obviously male. “Who speaks the prophecy of the coming war?” the white one spoke in a musical voice. Not too loud, not too soft. It was female. “It is only us. I am Jadeite Kamui-Jewel and this is Kou…umm…Kou…” I paused. “It is Kou Niko-Aurora.” Kou announced. “How did you…” I trailed off “My parents were murdered. I was saved by Miya, an out… aunt.” Kou said quietly. “Now both of you have to pay the blood price, if you do not have the token of light and darkness.” the male phoenix boomed, interrupting our conversation. “What is the token?” I asked. “You do not know? Then die!” the male phoenix swooped down, followed by the female one. He’s claws were getting closer, but I was rooted to the ground. Suddenly, as the phoenix struck, Kou pushed me aside. Both of us fell unto the floor. “Ah...” Kou groaned in pain. He’s leg had been notched by the phoenix’s claw. “Kou!” my eyes widened in terror. The phoenix was preparing for another strike. I gently placed Kou behind me, drew my sword and took a defensive stance. “Jadeite! What are you doing?” Kou panicked. “Stay there. I’ll handle this.” and with that, I rushed forward with a battle cry. The phoenix flew down at me. I blocked its claws and swiped them. Dodging here and there. So far, it was even. But I was tiring. Finally, I was thrown to one side, a huge gash at my side. The phoenix prepared to strike again. It swooped down, aiming for my heart. But I had no strength to move anymore. “Jadeite! No!” Author Notes: This was a long chappie! Now I have a gigantic headache! Oh well... next chapter will be quite boring...
